If You chose me to be born into this fragile world,
And did not shelter my earliest days,
it would have been enough.
If You guarded my childhood with unseen hands,
Yet did not forgive me when I lost my way,
it would have been enough.
If You forgave my sins and welcomed me back,
Yet never sent strong friends to hold me close,
it would have been enough.
If You gave me loyal hearts and shared laughter,
Yet never placed a partner beside my soul,
it would have been enough.
If You gave me a partner to walk life with,
Yet never taught us patience, respect, and grace,
it would have been enough.
If You shaped us into loving partners,
Yet never blessed us with children to guide,
it would have been enough.
If You blessed us with children full of wonder,
Yet never gave us courage to grow in faith together,
it would have been enough.
If You granted me the courage,
and withheld the tribe to call my own
it would have been enough.
If You blessed me with this beautiful tribe,
and not led me to journeys that shaped my soul,
it would have been enough.
O God,
It was always enough to rest within Your peace.
Yet You poured upon me the best of what life holds;
Love upon love, mercy upon mercy.
I promise to give the best of myself in return.
And when I return to You at journey’s end,
May I hear You whisper back gently to me:
“My child…You were enough”
